Additional Information

In 1947 the Caribbean Development Company Limited (CDC) was founded in order to reduce Trinidad's dependency on the cultivation of sugar and oil.
In September 1950 the first Trinidadian beer, Carib lager, was introduced to market. In 1955 the Caribbean Development Company Limited was split into Carib Brewery Ltd and Carib Glassworks Ltd.
On a side note in November 2024, I acquired a collection that I refer to as the "West Indies 1947-1971 collection". The oringinal owner of this collection left England after WW2 and moved to Trinidad in 1947 to help set up and build this brewery. He then remained in the West Indies working at additional sites and venues until returning to England in 1971.

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.

Below are some notes to help identify some of these changes and an aid to reference the year of the glass.
