Feldschlösschen Brauerei is the biggest brewery in Switzerland and was founded in 1876 in Rheinfelden. The brewery is in the shape of a castle and Feldschlösschen means 'small castle in the fields' in German. In 1991 the brewery acquired the Cardinal brewery in Fribourg. Hürlimann and Feldschlösschen merged in 1996 and formed Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Gruppe and in 2000 the group was bought by Carlsberg.
