The Frisian brewery was founded in 1985 and is a small family business located in Bolsward, Netherlands.
In 1990, the brewery in Uitwellingerga could no longer keep up with the demand, and the brewery moved to a former Philips factory building in Sneek.
In 1995 they moved again, this time to the building of the former Higher and Secondary School for Food Technology in Bolsward.

Twels Pilsner - The breweries first beer, named after the Frisian name of the village, Twellingea.

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.
