The Smithwick Brewery was founded in 1710 on the site of a Franciscan Abbey in Kilkenny Ireland. It was Ireland's oldest operating brewery until its closure in 2013. In 1965 Smithwick brewery was acquired by Guinness, which is now part of Diageo. Since 2013 the Smithwicks range has been produced in St.James Gate (Guinness)

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.
