Additional Information
The Franz Brewery is a private brewery in Rastatt Germany. The brewery is the oldest brewery in Rastatt and has been brewing beer since 1842 when Josef Franz founded it. In 1863 the brewery was completely destroyed by a great fire and in 1867 Carl Franz took over the brewery and erected new buildings which were badly destroyed by air raids in 1945. In 1951 the brewery is takeover by Mr. Herbert Uhl and the descendants of the founders Josef and Carl Franz. At the beginning of 2015 the brewery was sold to the Pforzheimer Breuerfamilie Scheidtweiler. However the Franz beer is still brewed exclusively in Rastatt.

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.
Below are some notes to help identify some of these changes and an aid to reference the year of the glass.
