The Smiles Brewery in Bristol was founded in 1977 and the name changed to Smiles Brewing Company in 1981. A management buyout in 1991 resulted in a rapidly expanding company, however a restucturing in 2004 resulted in the brewing process being out contracted to Highgate & Walsall Brewing Co.Ltd. Later the breweing equipment was removed and sold to Butcombe Brewery

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.
