Greenall Whitley & Co Ltd was founded in St Helens in 1762 and another brewery established in Warrington in 1787. The St Helen's brewery was closed in 1962 and the Warrington brewery in 1990. The company then became a pub operating concern only.

Grünhalle Lager - Another fake continental lager that British brewers were so fond of producing in the 1970's and 80's. Grunhalle gets it's name from a very literate German translation of Green-(H)alls. Brewed from around 1967 to 1990.

Over the years the brand identity is updated and re-launched with subtle changes, a change of Logo or a new font.
Sometimes this brand update is done by the new owners after a brewery has been sold, other times just to give the brand a fresh new look on the ever growing market.
