Additional Information
The Wieselburg Brewery is a large brewery in the Lower Austrian town of Wieselburg that dates back to 1770, when Josef Schauer bought it and expanded its business.
In 1823, Franz Schauer acquired the brewery in order to immediately resell it to Nepomuk Mutzer.
In 1860, Josef Riedmüller, son of the brewery owner of Waidhofen an der Ybbs, acquired the Wieselburger Brewery, which was still badly damaged due to a large fire in 1858.
In 1912 it continued to expand; when it bought the breweries in Krollendorf, Krems, Melk and Pottenbrunn and became the founding company of the former Brau AG in 1925.
In the early 1970s it was the most modern brewery in Europe.
Then in 1998 Brau Union Österreich AG was formed due to the merger of Austria's leading brewers, Brau AG and Steirerbrau AG
